Macaje started in 2023 because I owned jewelry I loved, but couldn’t actually wear. I wanted pieces that looked beautiful and could keep up with everyday life. Every Macaje piece is made with a gold-tone finish over a stainless-steel core — designed to be waterproof, tarnish-resistant, and hypoallergenic. Since then, we’ve grown from that simple idea into a brand built around jewelry you can wear without thinking twice.

What's actually under the gold
Most everyday jewelry is brass underneath. Brass reacts with sweat and water — that's the green wrist, and that's the plating going at the clasp after a month.
Every Macaje piece is gold-tone over a stainless-steel core. Steel doesn't corrode, so there's nothing in there to react with your skin. That's the whole reason it's hypoallergenic, and the whole reason you can leave it on.
You'll notice I don't claim a karat anywhere on this site. I can't substantiate one, so I don't say one.
Taking it off is a design failure
Not your failure. The jewelry's. If a piece needs a routine, a pouch and a set of rules, it was built wrong — and you've been managing the consequences and calling it normal.
Everything I make is judged against one question: can she put it on once and forget it?
What I got wrong
I discounted far too hard for far too long — deep enough that I taught my own customers the list price wasn't real. Some orders went out late. Some early pieces weren't good enough and I replaced them at my own cost.
The discount codes are gone now. The price is the price, and it's the same price whether you found us today or two years ago.
One less decision at 7:40am
The messages I get aren't about how it looks. They're from women saying they stopped thinking about it — that it went in the shower, the pool, the gym bag and a week in the sea, and came out the same.
That's the whole product. Not glamour. Relief.
